A full-day immersion into the world of natural colour, guided by textile artist Meera Krishnan. We begin in the gardens foraging for dye plants and end with a collection of hand-dyed fabric samples you've created yourself.
Morning Session: Foraging Walk
We'll walk through the botanical gardens with Meera, identifying plants that yield dye — indigo, marigold, pomegranate rind, iron-rich mud. You'll learn to see the landscape through a dyer's eyes.
Afternoon Session: Dye Workshop
Back in the studio, we'll prepare dye baths and experiment with different techniques:
- Direct dyeing and resist methods
- Mordanting for colour fastness
- Layering colours through sequential dipping
- Creating pattern with folding, clamping, and tying
Includes
- All materials and dye supplies
- Vegetarian lunch and refreshments
- A booklet of Meera's dye recipes to take home
- Your collection of dyed samples
Limited to 12 participants. This workshop sells out quickly.
